FAQ:
Where are your nearest
Airports?
Lambert Air Field St.Louis, Mo.
- 2 Hour Drive.
Springfield Mo. Branson Regional - 1 hour
15 Minute Drive.
Waynesville Regional Airport on the
Fort.
What Airport do you
recommend?
When you fly into smaller airports it
would probably connect from a larger airport, and you
would then be paying for that connecting fligt. I
reccommend fling into St. louis then renting a car. St.Louis is a 2 hour
drive to Fort Wood at 70 miles an hour.
Air Commuter service is available between
St. Louis and Fort Leonard Wood. USA Express operates an
airport shuttle service 7 times daily between Fort Leonard
Wood and St. Louis Lambert Airport. The phone number is
800-872-9399 or you can visit the site online at
www.usaxonline.com. You must make reservations in
advance.
Directions from
St.Louis Lambert Field Airport.
When you arrive in St.Louis Lambert Field
you go west bound on I-70 about 4 miles then go south
on 270 about 15 miles, then go west on I-44. I-44 will take
you about 135 miles west to Fort Leonard Wood Exit 161,
. Exit 161 is 3 miles from the Main gate of Fort Leonard
Wood. Exit 161 is where you will find the largest
concentration of Motels and Hotels. This is where most
people stay when visiting this area, it is close to shopping
and restaurants.
I need a room on Fort
Leonard Wood!
I'm lost, my son is
graduating and I don't know what to do?
The
first event is the Graduation Banquet.
The
final event is the Graduation Ceremony. This event serves to
officially enter your soldier into the ranks of the Army and
Corps of Engineers.
The days prior to
graduation will be very busy for your soldier. If you do arrive
early, please remember that there is no time available to
visit with your loved one prior to the banquet and
graduation.
UPDATE TO THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION.. CURRENTLY RESTRICTIONS
ON ENTRANCE TO THE GATE HAVE BEEN REDUCED. IT NOW ONLY
REQUIRES THAT ALL ADULTS HAVE IDENTIFICATION IN THE VEHICLE.
YOU WILL STILL NEED PROOF OF INSURANCE AND REGISTRATION IF
YOU ARE IN YOUR PERSONAL CAR. IN THE CASE OF RENTAL CARS THE
RENTAL CAR COMPANIES PROVIDE YOU WITH EVERYTHING YOU WILL
NEED EXCEPT IDENTIFICATION CARDS AND DRIVERS LICENSES. IN
THE FUTURE THEY MAY GO BACK TO THE WAY THINGS WERE DONE,
DEPENDS ON NATIONAL SECURITY LEVELS..
If
you are planning to attend, please be aware that access to
the post is restricted and a visitor’s pass for each vehicle
will be required.
To request a post visitor’s pass the following
information is required and should be given to your soldier
no less than two weeks prior to graduation:
Operator’s full name and driver’s license number (for
each driver)
Vehicle make, model, year, color, plate
number, and state (for each
vehicle)
Upon receipt
of the above information, they will mail your vehicle
pass(es) to you.
If you do not receive your pass in the mail, contact
the unit commander. When you receive your pass, it is
mandatory that you fill out the personal and vehicle
information on the card, prior to leaving home, and have it
already placed on your dashboard before entering the main
gate. In addition to your
pass, you will need the following documents upon arrival at
Fort Leonard Wood:
Drivers
license and proof of insurance (for each
driver)
State vehicle registration
and safety inspection (for each vehicle if required by state
of registration)
Due to
the heavy training demands placed on your soldier, please
make your own transportation and lodging arrangements. When you first arrive at
Fort Leonard Wood, please stop at the Fort Leonard Wood
Information Center, building 9000, located at the front
gate. The
itinerary for graduation events will be placed there. Please note that our
installation strictly enforces all traffic rules and
regulations. Also, please be advised that civilians
are not authorized to utilize any facilities on post, unless
accompanied by a service
member.
If for
any reason there is an emergency at home and you need to
contact your soldier, please call the RED CROSS
through your local chapter, hospital, or law enforcement
agency. The RED
CROSS maintains an efficient 24-hour worldwide notification
service. Be
sure you have your soldier’s social security number and
address to avoid a delay in service. There is no
charge and most importantly, such notification
gives us the ONLY official confirmation that the
commander needs to grant emergency leave if demanded by
the situation.
For non-emergency contact, or for further assistance,
please write, call, or e-mail the Company
Commander. On a personal note,
you can eat anywhere on Fort Wood without an Id, but you
will not be able to buy gas, or shop the PX or Commissary.
